HOW TO PEEL YOUR PROMADE OR PRO POINT FANS WITHOUT LOSING A SINGLE FAN!
One of the most important steps in lashing with premade volume fans is to peel them from the boxes or trays correctly. We did a lash artist survey and found 20% of lash artists are peeling them off incorrectly! Sadly so many lash fans are being wasted, either by breaking the fans or deforming the lashes. But don't worry! We're here to get you lashing next level, and not lose a single fan! Below we will show you how to correctly pick your Promade or Pro Point fans so you get the most out of every single fan. Because the the less fans we break, the more money we make!
Simply follow these steps to get the best out of your lashes.
Please note that with premade fans, we highly recommend you use RV1 tweezers to peel them off.
- For Pro Point and Promade fans on trays or boxes:
- Gently pinch the fan with your tweezers at the base of the fan tip.
- Peel gently away from you, towards the top of the tray or box. Don't lift the fan upwards.
- Place it down carefully.
- Pick it up from the middle of the fan gently and dip it in your glue.
The fan tip base is the strongest part of the fan, and will hold all the lashes in place. So when you peel it off, you will be stabilising the whole fan, and not applying pressure on the lashes themselves. Simple right! If you peel your fans with this technique, you should be able to get the most out of every single fans! This means more fans to use and less wastage so it will increase your revenue!
While we're at it, let's also cover some common ways to remove the fans that can cause damage.
-
Don't tug or pull at the lashes.
This will only damage or break the lashes. They are very gentle things so go easy on them and peel from the base of the fan tip. -
Don't pull towards you with the fan.
Pulling the fans directly upwards (away from the box) can sometimes break the fan. You want to peel them from the bottom of the box, towards the top of the box. -
Don't pull the fans down towards the base of the box.
This can apply too much pressure on the fan and break the lashes. -
Don't pinch fans at the tape.
Because the fan is secured to the tape to keep them in place, pinching the fans at the tape can cause them to break also. Simply pinch from the base of the fan tip, away from the tape. -
Don't pinch fans from the top of the lashes. This will only break the lashes, or pull them off the rest of the fan.
Picking the fan up from the top can easily deform the lashes or break the fans. A fan is weakest at the top and strongest at its base. This is why we need to always gently pick the fan up from the base. -
Grabbing one or two lashes.
One of the common mistakes is to grab one or two single lashes instead of the whole fan. As the lashes are so fragile, this will only break those lashes and ruin the whole fan.
Take a look at this video, which will show you how to peel Promade lash fans from our boxes correctly.
Remember: This is the best technique for Pro Point and Promade lash fans. Short Stem and Long Stem fans should be removed from the top of the fan as the base is secured to the tape.

Pulling the fans upwards can easily break the fan. Depending on which types of lashes you are working with (Long Stem, Short Stem or Pro Point), need to apply different motion when pick up the fans from the sticky strip.
